Dr Tom Chao has over two decades of experience in medicine, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across a wide range of clinical areas. He is passionate about both clinical practice and medical education, taking a hands-on approach to teaching patients, junior doctors, and registrars alike.
Dr Chao serves as both as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and RACGP GP supervisor, where he has been actively involved in training and mentoring medical student and GP registrars for more than a decade. Through his academic role, he contributes to shaping the next generation of doctors while maintaining a strong connection to evidence-based clinical practice.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr Chao enjoys an active lifestyle, including playing tennis, and values spending quality time with his family and young children. His approach to medicine reflects his belief in holistic care, balancing clinical expertise with empathy, patient education, and lifestyle support.
